The Texas Rangers are back in the Championship Series for the first time in 12 years, but their “bounce back” came from a different source.
Texas advanced to the Championship Series with a 7-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles in Game 3 of the Division Series at Globe Life Field on Monday (Nov. 11), taking the series 3 games to 1. First trip since 2011.
Texas had a dominant first half of the 2023 season, going 52-39, but fell short in the second half, going 38-33. They ended up losing the head-to-head matchup to the Houston Astros and had to play the postseason as a wild card.
In the meantime, the team’s left-hander Andrew Heaney revealed an interesting fact in an interview with the team’s radio station, 105.3 The Fan, a day before Game 3.
According to him, the Rangers players listened to songs by the rock band Creed during the latter stages of the team’s struggles.
Rookie outfielder Evan Carter, who was born in 2002 and may not have grown up knowing about Creed’s heyday, told the same outlet that they were listening to Creed not only in the clubhouse but also on the bus ride to the game, explaining that the players’ handshakes were tied to Creed songs.
Manager Bruce Bochy said, “I don’t know a lot of their songs to be honest. I know we play a lot of Creed music. I didn’t choose it. I don’t even know who the DJ is. I think it’s probably Hedges (Austin Hedges),” he said.
Since the news broke, Creed has posted articles and supportive messages on their official X (formerly Twitter).
Heaney added that he believes the players would be energized if Creed’s song was played during Games 3 and 4 at home at Globe Life Field.온라인바카라
The Rangers organization didn’t take the player’s wishes lying down. GlobeLife Field’s official DJ, C-Stars, announced via his X that Creed’s “Higher” would be on the playlist, and it was during Game 3 on Nov. 11.
Formed in 1994 in Tallahassee, Florida, the band is a popular band that won the Best Rock Song category at the 2001 Grammy Awards. They have released several popular songs including “Higher,” “With Arms Wide Open,” “My Sacrifice,” and more.
