“It’s the first time he’s been named to the national team, and it will be a good foundation for him to grow in many ways,” Samsung coach Park Jin-man said of outfielder Kim Sung-yoon’s addition to the Hangzhou Asian Games squad.
The Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) Performance Enhancement Committee and the KBO Power Enhancement Committee announced today that two of the 24 members of the Hangzhou Asian Games baseball squad are injured or recovering from injuries but will not be able to perform at full capacity during the Games.
The KBO Power Enhancement Committee (Chairman Cho Kye-hyun) and national team manager Ryu Jung-il and his coaching staff have been reviewing the performance of injured, rehabilitated and recovering players since the announcement of the 24-man roster for the Hangzhou Asian Games on June 9 and determined that Kiwoom Lee Jung-hoo and NC Koo Chang-mo needed to be replaced.
Through the Korea Baseball Softball Association’s Performance Enhancement Committee, the players will be replaced by Samsung’s Kim Sung-yoon (outfielder) and NC’s Kim Young-kyu (pitcher), respectively.
Kim Hyun-jun, who is Samsung’s leadoff man, was expected to be selected, but Kim’s selection was a bit of a surprise. Speaking to reporters before the game against Doosan in Daegu on the 21st, manager Park Jin-man said, “I must have thought about it a lot. Kim Sung-yoon’s performance this season has given him a platform to grow even more next year.”
Park Jin-man expressed his worries about Kim Hyun-jun. “I’m worried about Kim Hyun-jun,” he said, “because he had high hopes of making the national team. He must have had high hopes, but I think the disappointment will be just as great. I saw him earlier and he was training hard without showing any signs of it. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the national team, but just the fact that he was considered is a recognition of his ability.”토토사이트
Samsung made a few changes to their starting lineup. Instead of Kim Hyun-jun, Ryu Ji-hyuk will lead off. Samsung’s batting order is third baseman Ryu Ji-hyuk, right fielder Kim Sung-yoon, left fielder Koo Ja-uk, catcher Kang Min-ho, designated hitter Jose Pirela, shortstop Lee Jae-hyun, center fielder Kim Hyun-jun, first baseman Kim Ho-jae, and second baseman Kim Ji-chan. /what@osen.co.kr
