‘6.2 innings of scoreless baseball & 2 hits & 1 RBI’ by Jeon Mir Idoryu… Kyungpook State defeats Seoul State to advance to the second round of the Bonghwang Daejeon


Gyeongbuk High School defeated Seoul High School to advance to the second round of the Bonghwangdae National High School Baseball Tournament behind a huge performance from Jeon “Idoryu” Mir. Jeon held his final showcase in front of KBO League scouts before joining the youth national team.

Gyeongbuk High won 3-0 in the first game of the Bonghwangdae against Seoul High on Aug. 19 at Shinwol Baseball Stadium in Seoul. Gyeongbuk Go will play the second game of the tournament against Busan Industrial High School at 9 a.m. on Aug. 23 at Mokdong Baseball Stadium.

On the day, Seoul Go led with a starting batting order of Yeo Dong-gun (shortstop), Lee Jun-seo (center fielder), Yoon Ji-hwan (right fielder), So Bin (left fielder), Wang Ji-hoon (catcher), Joo Seung-min (first baseman), Kim Min-chan (designated hitter), Kim Young-chae (third baseman), and Kang Min-ho (second baseman). Jang Jun-young was on the mound for Seoul High.

Gyeongbuk High had a starting batting order of Kim Se-hoon (shortstop), Park Kwan-woo (left fielder), Lim Jong-sung (third baseman), Jeon Mir (designated hitter), Lee Seung-hyun (catcher), Jeong Hee-chan (first baseman), Lee Seong-hwan (right fielder), Park Hyun-hoo (second baseman), and Park Gun-woo (center fielder). Gyeongbuk High School’s starting pitcher was Park Kyung-do.

Seoul had runners on second and third with one out in the top of the first inning, but the runner on second took advantage of a wild pitch and stole third.

Kyungpook National University had a chance in the bottom of the first inning. At the plate, batter Jeon Mir was the solution. In the bottom of the first inning, after a leadoff double by Kim Se-hoon, a walk by Park Kwan-woo, and a sacrifice bunt, Jeon Mir singled up the middle to put runners on second and third. The next batter, Lee Seung-hyun, grounded out to second base, allowing the runner from third to score. Both teams remained scoreless until the sixth inning.

Kyungpook National University sent ace Jeon Mir to the mound in the top of the third inning. With starter Park Kyung-do throwing 2.1 innings of one-hit ball on 38 pitches with two strikeouts and two walks, Jeon came on in relief with runners on first and third in the top of the third. After allowing a walk to the first batter, Jeon induced a straight fly to shortstop and a grounder to third base to end the threat.

He retired the next three batters to start the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth inning, with runners on first and second, he was lucky that the opposing runner failed to steal third base.

Kyungpook National University had runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the seventh against reliever Eo Yoon-seong, but the pinch-hitter Kim Woo-hyuk singled up the middle to drive in a valuable run.메이저놀이터

Jeon stayed on the mound until the final out of the ninth inning. After cruising through the top of the ninth, Jeon gave up an infield hit with two outs, but he struck out the final batter to end the game.

On the day, Zemir pitched 6.2 innings, throwing 85 pitches, allowing three runs on six hits, striking out four and walking none. At the plate, he went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI to help his team win the game. It was a day to remember for Jeon Mir. With a great finish to his final national tournament appearance, Jeon will join the national youth baseball team for training on the 21st.
