The Football Association (FA) Cup semi-final between professional footballers Jeju United and Pohang Steelers has been cancelled and postponed due to a typhoon.
The Korea Football Association (KFA) said on the 9th, “The FA Cup match between Jeju and Pohang scheduled for today has been cancelled and postponed due to typhoon and safety concerns,” adding, “With Typhoon Kanun heading north, the match has been postponed based on the judgement of the match supervisor due to concerns about safety accidents for players and spectators if the match is forced. The rescheduled date will be announced later.”
Initially, Jeju and Pohang were scheduled to play the 2023 Hana OneQ FA Cup semi-final at Jeju World Cup Stadium at 7.30pm. However, as Typhoon No. 6 Kanun moved north and entered Jeju’s area of influence, the match was cancelled due to safety concerns. The previous day (8 August), Jeju explained, “In accordance with the FA Cup Operating Regulations, we are conducting thorough preparations for the match as usual, as discussions on postponing the match will be held depending on the situation on the day of the match.”
On the 9th, Jeju announced on their official social media (SNS), “In case the game cannot be played due to a sudden change in weather caused by a typhoon, we decided to postpone today’s game for everyone’s safety after discussions with the match supervisor, tournament headquarters, and other officials. We would also like to express our deepest sympathies to the away fans of Pohang who travelled a particularly long way.”온라인바카라
With the postponement of the Jeju-Pohang match, both FA Cup semi-final ties have been postponed. Earlier, Jeonbuk Hyundai and Incheon United’s match at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on 9 September was postponed due to the scheduling of the Saemangeum Jamboree farewell ceremony and K-pop concert. The concert was moved to Seoul World Cup Stadium due to the typhoon.
